"The real deal from back in the days. Before the computers when house was good!"
- Jeremy / Underground Paris

"I'm lovin' 'Deep' very much, also the Behind Club Doors Mix of 'Reach' - both songs have stood the test of time."
- Dr Bob Jones

"'Reach Out' is HOT!!!"
- Rahaan

"Quality house tracks, can't wait to play the vinyl!"
- San Soda

"Wow! I am loving all tracks on this. Authentic, warm house tracks with bags of soul. Proper analogue sounding. Vocals are hot. Massively looking forward to playing these on the radio show and at gigs."
- Red Rack'em / Bergerac, Smugglers Inn

"Old school...I love it!"
- Mad Mats / Local Talk

"Traveller comes through with this killer reissue of vintage vocal NY deepness from Creation, Fantasy and X Man. Pressed up with retro artwork, the label have clearly uncovered a gem in 'Deep', presenting a mammoth gospel vocal that channels the spiritual vibe of messrs Claussel and Chandler - it's near perfect Body & Soul material that puts the shallow house endeavours of certain popular labels to shame. Flipside and 'Reach Out' is just as good, slowly unfurling into a swirling array of Rhodes and harmonious gospel vocals over gentle percussion before bursting into bumping life for the final refrain. If you like that last section, the accompanying Behind Club Doors mix will find much favour with your feet."
- Juno Records

"Earl 'The Pearl' Monroe has got a legacy in the realm of the genesis of house music. His production and guidance has springboarded careers for the likes of Bobby Konders, Basil Harhouse, DJ Camacho and many more, as well as being a mainstay in some of NYC's key clubs. The guy really needs his recognition, and he may just get it from this stunning release for Finland-based label, Traveller. Four brilliant cuts of the most deep, soulful proto-style house music that would have graced the catalogues of such stalwarts as Nu Groove and Bottom Line, taking the ideals of early Larry Heard and Burrell Bros.-style production. Wonderful.
- DJ Mag

"I love that shit!"
- Andrew / Peoples Potential Unlimited

"Big props for Traveller for bringing these wonderful tunes back!"
- Roberto Rodriguez

"Woah!!! "This has soul. Digging it and defo will be spun. Keep up the hard work. 'Deep' is our track of choice. However, 'Reach Out' is intricate and a total hidden gem that releases all the tension in the last stretch of the track. Timeless and proper!"
- Silvestre / Discofutura

"It's all about 'Deep' vox mix here for me, sounds really nice and authentic on the vocal side of things...and a nice level of emotion in the instrumentation.... again I love the vocals on 'Reach Out'. RSPKT."
- Tristan da Cunha

"House the way is meant to sound, full support from Basic Fingers!"
- Basic Fingers

"YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!"
- Max D / Future Times

"Massive re-release of this NYC vocal deep house gem!"
- Phonica Records

"Wow, record of the week by a long shot. Very Larry Heard in spirit but totally orignal with it."
- Leftside Wobble

"House music full of Heart & Soul!! Remembering those old good days!! Full support."
- Black Mighty Wax

"Oldskool flavour with massive vocals. Love the release and will play it for sure. House as back in the days."
- Soul Industries / Ramp.fm

"Stone cold classic house cuts, loving it!"
- Alphabet City

"Massive Release!"
- Ben Perry / Contort Yourselt

"Wow! This is super tight. 'Deep' is amazing."
- DJ Huggs / Disca Bueno

"Proper vintage deephouse this, reminds me of the kind of stuff that used to come out on Distance Music."
- Sleazy Beats

"This just made me go back, proper house! Loving all tracks, thank you!"
- Alkalino

"'Deep' is bringing kinda original Freetown Records back into my world... loving it!!"
- Black Alley

"Can´t hype this enough!!!! Best release of an unreleased track ever. Love the voice, remastering the whole shabang.."

"First time on vinyl for these two modern soul tracks. ‘Tell me‘ is a great, uplifting 70s dancer that deserves spins."
- Recordmania / Stockholm

Download audio file (05 Joy Trip (Part 2) 1.mp3)

Licensed courtesy of Lu-Cor Music Co. Ltd.

"What you have here is a premium double dose of unreleased 70's soul music. Jerline & Friends were never heard of beyond the boundaries of home base in Chicago. After morphing into Royal Flush they managed to sell some units with the album Hot Spot, but still kept their thing outside the mainstream.

The original ‘Joy Trip‘, released on the UK Street Soul label in 2010, is a sublime stepper, mirroring with its sensual string action classics such as Starvue's ‘Body Fusion‘. This ‘Pt. 2‘ is a stompier cousin, rather urging than seducing the dance partner for a joined trip towards the bedroom.

‘Tell Me‘ is a perfect partner in crime. It's a dramatic and pumping narrative about surviving the low points of a relationship. Lead singer Jerline Shelton attacks both tracks with clever vocal stylings, coming slightly from the left-field, but never losing the groove."
- Markus Karlqvist

"Sublime 70s soul groovers from Jerline and Friends – a pair of tracks from a Chicago combo that was pretty much unknown outside the city in their time – getting some late love with this 45 release on the Traveller label! ‘Joytrip‘ (Part 2) is just that – a great, mid 70s dancefloor soul number with heavy drums, piano and horns driving it along underneath Jerline Shelton's soulful voice and unique phrasing – and some really trippy synths on the outer edge! It's well paired with the flip, ‘Tell Me‘ – another dancefloor ready stormer."
- Dusty Groove America

"Part 1 of ‘Joy‘ was released in 2010 by the Street Funk label, and this follow-up is a complete revelation, as sensational disco strings are replaced with a soul-fired rare groove production from Chicago group Jerline & Friends. It's nothing short of superb. Faultless production, pulsating bass, fab drums and brass plus dope lead and backing vocals too. Flipside ‘Tell Me‘ is a soul classic that you have never heard. Essential."

"Is house back for good? There has been a strong resurgence of old school done now that is pushing the re-edit mania out of business, propelling house, the essence of dance music, back in the decks…

Dj Ionik, headhoncho of Finnish Traveller Records and killer re-edit label Kojak Giant Sounds, introduces us to a triple pack of serious 4/4 deep house: Rhythm Kings.

It is a triple vinyl pack with one monster track per side. And to water your mouth and ears… OOFT! and man of the moment Nicholas (No More Hits) are in here. The former give us a hypnotic deep trip of electronic music although it does not manage to take off for me. High expectations and a bit of a let down, but hey… here comes Nicholas ‘When I Think About It’, who pumps the dancefloor with soulful deep house with a 1990s flava. He adds a gorgeous female vocal on the beat, and injects more punch with a stirring choice of infectious synths and bassline. It is really an irresistible killer that builds slowly, and one of the top highlights here.

Lesser known names, but serious contenders are Leonidas who offers slow deep house number reminiscent of the best Mr. Fingers or any Prescription release. Discoshit’s ‘You Make Me Feel’ on side D, is everything but disco. It is an atmospheric techy house with some great vocal samples and a driving bassline that develops into an essential track that will please house heads with a techno inclination. Superb and the dancefloor punters mos def will thank you for it.

On the same note we have Black Alley’s ‘Trying to Find a Way’. It is darker in tones and harsher but still housey enough and a potential weapon if the crowd is right.

These gems will be in stock at your local purveyor of quality sounds from April 6. As with any Kojak 12″, this release is to be appreciated better when played LOUD!"

- Discofutura

"It's taken a long time to arrive, but the Traveller label's "Rhythm Kings" TRIPLE pack album has finally turned up! Featuring killer deep house tracks by Ncholas, Leonidas, OOFT!, Discoshit, Black Alley and Koi, it's definitely worth further investigation.

Leonidas kicks the whole caboodle off with "Theo's Bassline (7am Mix)" - mid-tempo Chicago style house (check the TR-808 drums and percussion), but with a new-school vibe. If you want to get your head down and get sweaty on the dancefloor then OOFT!'s "Rawhide" will take you there - proper peak-time jackin' tech-house tackle that will have the crowd rockin'. Hitting us up with some 90s-style grooves on "When I Think About It" comes Nicholas - another future classic from his already bulging archive. Heading over to electro-disco territory is Discoshit and "You Make Me Feel", all galloping electro basslines and dreamy synth washes... From the final slab of wax we have the spoken vocal funky deep house bomb "Trying To Find A Way" by Black Alley, and Koi driving tech-house cut "Next" - very Planet E!"

- Piccadilly Records

"This killer triple vinyl pack recently dropped at Piccadilly Records (had been out several months elsewhere apparently) and is full of some excellent deep house tracks from the likes of Nicholas, OOFT!, Discoshit and Koi. After several listens you realise theres some serious heat going on here. If it's not the slow burning deepness of Leonidas' 'Theo's Bass Line', the peak time 90s inspired house (think Mood II Swing etc.) of Nicholas' 'When I Think About It' or the hypnotic Tech-House cut of 'Next' by Koi that gets you hooked, you can simply check out the flip for a different fill."
- Walk Into The Sea

"Awesome pack! Lovin' both, Iiya Santana's mix is fuckinnnn huge! Will play!"

"It’d be hard to ignore Traveller Records latest signing Rayko, who’s outstanding production and edits are crate and floor fillers for a lot of Dj’s at the moment, including myself! Definitely a cat to keep your eye on for sure. In fact I heard a great quote from a friend the other day too “When in doubt, play Rayko!”. Strong praise indeed. Perfect Italo tinged disco!"
- BlackLodge Music

"Brand new 12" from Traveller Records, hot on the heels of the boogie masterclass that was Alphabet City, comes Rayko to school you in nu-italo recreation. This is chuggy Moroderish dancefloor stuff of the highest order - watch the crowd dissapear into the tunnel from the beginning titles of 70s/80s Dr.Who - and fall out the other side into the Tomorrows World studio!"

"In early 2008, seven artists employed by Fat Beats New York decided to form a rap group. We call ourselves the Brown Bag AllStars. Every day we sell records to customers who want good, honest music. We figured we knew enough about the subject to make it ourselves. We were right. Our roster is like a 40 oz. A-Team. We've got Audible Doctor, rapper, producer, and Fat Beats manager; J57, rapper, beatsmith and assistant-manager; Koncept, rapper and ultimate bar fight champion; Soul Khan, rapper and pornosseur; E Holla, dj, father, and FatBeats.com webmaster; Element, dj and man of relaxed expectations; and Goo, a dj and genius mixing engineer. Our numbers are great, but our energy on stage is unlike anything else in New York today. We will bring the same spirit and liveliness to any stage we step on that we have shown at packed venues throughout New York City. What began as a bunch of drunk dudes running Fat Beats became one of the brightest prospects in the independent hip hop scene. We don't believe in VIP sections. Everybody is welcome at a Brown Bag AllStar party. We hope you enjoy it."

- Leftside Wobble

"The mysterious Bicep (the lot behind the killer blog of the same name) drop a very, very nice 12" of deep, hypnotic grooves. Going for a resolutely US sound to their house, Bicep build simple, melodic grooves that'll grow on you in no time! Limited copies."

"'Ride On' is pure party rockin' hip hop the way it should be done. As a far of old skool rap and the Clarence Wheeler classic, this hits all the right buttons for me!"
- Dom Servini / Wah Wah 45s, Shook Mag

"Traveller Records out of Finland hooked me up with a few copies for our shop and I’m definitely thankful for that! I mean how can you go wrong with Ohmega Watts and Raashan Ahmad rhyming on the same record. I don’t think it’s possible. The title cut, ´Ride On´ featuring Raashan is a B-Boy’s dream dropping the deep funk beats laced with organ, horns, and a vocal sample chanting Ride On! I like that one a lot. Other flavors on this record include the danceably smooth, ´Floor To The Roof´ featuring Velben, the mellow cut, ´To The Sky´ featuring Ohmega Watts - perfect to bump in for your floss ride when you’re riding with your B-Girl, and ´Paradise´ with Moka Only is a smoothed out conscious Hip Hop tune. Dragon Fli Empire comes doctor recommended!"
- Vinylathletes.com

"Really like the productions! “Ride On” is a real hip-hop killer and “Floor To The Roof” will work perfectly with my boogie/house sets as it’s a little more uptempo…diggin’ that isht!!!"
- DJ Asparagus / Raw Fusion

"'Ride On' is a sure fire dancefloor groover!!! ´Paradise´ will also definitely make dj sets!!!
- Jon Kennedy / Organik Recordings
